Living Circle Farms Hawaii has educational opportunities for community members, students, and volunteers. We are committed to not only following the regenerative principles in our soil and farming, but also in our daily lives through giving back to our community and continuing the cycle of connection. Learn all about sustainable, regenerative farming and how to implement these techniques back home in your own garden, farm or community. Below are just a few examples of what you will learn
Out on the farm we encourage taste, smell and feeling! Feel the difference of thriving soil vs. areas that have not been amended with worm by products (vermicast & worm tea), compost and greenwaste, fish water from our irrigation tank (fertigation), and wood ash from our wood fire pizza oven that does so much more than pizza! As we explore the farm you can't help but notice the smells of seasonal flowers in the Tea Garden, seasonal blossoms in the orchards and fragrant seasonal produce. Tasting freshness on the farm is always a favorite, whether it's the fresh air from the plants or the fresh produce, flowers or fruits sampled along the way. We hope for you to feel a connection with nature along your journey through Living Circle Farms Hawaii.
Some things we want to show you!
Worms: Feel the difference! Worms help make incredible fluffy/dense & moist soil! Students are invited to spend time in our warm house to view and hold worms! As well as learn about the ecosystem of the worms.
Ecosystems: Creating space for ecosystems to regenerate. Look for birds, caterpillars, butterflies, worms and other little (& not so little) friends of the garden!
Slow down and watch it grow: Planting a seed is a powerful thing. All students will plant a seed to take home, if they do not wish to take it home, that's ok. The seed will get planted on the farm with their name, so they still have connection to the plant. We hope for everyone to feel connection with nature. During this process we will talk about how we plant with the moon cycle.
Animals you will meet on the farm:
•Chicken that lay eggs!
•Tilapia fish in our 10,000-gallon fertigation tank
•Dogs that love hugs
•Cats that are great hunters
For Teachers, Homeschool Groups, Scout Troops and Extracurricular Clubs, we offer Farm Field Trips & Curriculum for every grade level!
Living Circle Farms is dedicated to passing along the wisdom and knowledge of regenerative growing to future generations. We hope to inspire the potential of regenerative lifestyles and future careers to create a sustainable, biodiverse, abundantly thriving Hawaii.
Our farm is a natural learning environment, and there are a multitude of daily farm activities that go hand-in-hand with your curriculum. There are opportunities for hands-on learning for every grade level, K - 12, from our worm house to our farm animals, to our solar energy system. What better way to learn about ecosystems and sustainability, than on an operational, fully regenerative farm!
